It is easy to turn a journey into a task: a starting point, a destination, and the shortest line between them. But the parts we remember rarely happen on schedule. A quiet road, an unplanned stop, or a view that asks us to stay a little longer can change the whole day.
Leave a little room in the plan.
Choose a nearby destination and give yourself more time than you need. Bring water, a notebook, and a willingness to turn down a different street. The point is not to get lost. It is to give curiosity a little space.
Start with a familiar walk. Take the path you usually pass. Stop when you notice something worth looking at. A scenic route can begin just outside your front door.
